Εισαγωγή
Το λογισμικό Σ.Ε.Π. είναι μια πολυμεσική εφαρμογή που καλύπτει διδακτικά θέματα της θερμότητας για το δημοτικό και το γυμνάσιο, θερμοδυναμικής για το λύκειο και υπάρχει η δυνατότητα χρήσης του στη χημεία και στη περιβαλλοντική εκπαίδευση.
Το λογισμικό έχει ένα πλήθος προσομοιώσεων, animations, videos και συνοδεύεται από μια μεγάλη βιβλιοθήκη κειμένων που αναφέρονται στη θερμότητα και τη θερμοδυναμική. Αν κάποιος το επιθυμεί υπάρχει και αρκετές χρήσιμες διευθύνσεις στο διαδίκτυο για περισσότερες πληροφορίες.
Το λογισμικό συνοδεύονται και από αρκετά εγχειρίδια τα οποία χωρίζονται σε δύο κατηγορίες, εγχειρίδια για το καθηγητή και εγχειρίδια για το μαθητή. Τα εγχειρίδια για το καθηγητή περιλαμβάνουν μια παιδαγωγική προσέγγιση για τη θερμότητα και τη θερμοδυναμική με τη χρήση του λογισμικού, εγχειρίδιο χρήσης και εκπαιδευτικές δραστηριότητες για τη θερμότητα και τη θερμοδυναμική.

Εγκατάσταση του λογισμικού
Τοποθετήστε το CD της εφαρμογής στη θέση του CD του δίσκου σας.
Κάνετε κλικ στο εικονίδιο της αριστερής εικόνας και κατόπιν στο αρχείο sep2000. exe για την έναρξη της εγκατάστασης.
Ανοίξτε το πρόγραμμα και γράψτε τον κωδικό της αρεσκείας σας, αρκεί να είναι με λατινικούς χαρακτήρες γιατί αλλιώς στην επόμενη χρήση ο κωδικός με ελληνικούς χαρακτήρες δεν πρόκειται να αναγνωρισθεί. Αν ξεχάσετε μελλοντικά τον κωδικό σας τότε τοποθετήσετε εκ νέου το CD, κάνετε κλικ στο εικονίδιο SEP-ClearP.. και γράψτε έναν άλλο κωδικό. Αν δεν γράψετε τον κωδικό τότε δεν μπορείτε να δουλέψετε σε περιβάλλον καθηγητή αλλά μόνο σε περιβάλλον μαθητή. Οι διαφορές που υπάρχουν είναι ότι σε περιβάλλον καθηγητή έχετε τη δυνατότητα να σχεδιάσετε νέες προσομοιώσεις, να χρησιμοποιήσετε το πολυμεσικό υλικό και να θέσετε περιορισμούς στη χρήση του λογισμικού στους μαθητές.
Αν υπάρχει στο CD σας το πολυμεσικό υλικό για να εγκατασταθεί θα πρέπει να αντιγράψτε το πολυμεσικό υλικό από το CD, να ανοίξετε το φάκελο Ναυσικά που θα το βρείτε στο φάκελο Program Files και κατόπιν το φάκελο του ΣΕΠ όπου και θα τοποθετήσετε το πολυμεσικό υλικό. Την επόμενη φορά που θα ανοίξετε το πρόγραμμα θα έχει εγκατασταθεί και το πολυμεσικό υλικό. Αν δεν έχετε το πολυμεσικό υλικό τότε θα αρκεσθείτε μόνο στις προσομοιώσεις για τις διδακτικές σας δραστηριότητες, Τα εγχειρίδια επίσης θα πρέπει να τα αντιγράψτε από το CD και να τα τοποθετήσετε εκεί που επιθυμείτε στο σκληρό σας δίσκο.

Αριστερά και δεξιά υπάρχουν δύο πόρτες που οδηγούν αντίστοιχα στο εργαστήριο Θερμοδυναμικής ή Θερμότητας ανάλογα που θα κάνετε κλικ.
Στο επάνω μέρος της βιβλιοθήκης υπάρχει μια γραμμή εργαλείων. 
Η εντολή αρχείο επιτρέπει να κλείσετε το πρόγραμμα αλλά αν επιλέξτε κάποιο πείραμα αυτό δεν θα είναι ορατό αμέσως. Θα έχει φορτωθεί αλλά για να το δείτε θα πρέπει να μετακινηθείτε στο αντίστοιχο εργαστήριο.
Οι επιλογές Τετράδιο μαθητή, Επεξεργασία και Μορφοποίηση ενεργοποιούνται μόνο αν ανοιχθεί το τετράδιο μαθητή, στο οποίο ο μαθητής μπορεί να γράφει σημειώσεις και με τη χρήση των εντολών αντιγραφή και επικόλληση να χρησιμοποιήσει και κείμενα από το πολυμεσικό υλικό. Η εντολή ρυθμίσεις δίνει τη δυνατότητα στο καθηγητή να ορίσει ποιες ουσίες και όργανα επιτρέπεται να χρησιμοποιήσει ο μαθητής. Σημαντικό είναι το μενού Μετάβαση το οποίο επιτρέπει τη μετακίνηση από τη βιβλιοθήκη στα εργαστήρια και αντίστροφα. Το μενού Βοήθεια έχει το υλικό των εγχειριδίων σε γλώσσα html.
Πολυμεσικό Υλικό
Η βιβλιοθήκη έχει τρία είδη ντοσιέ τα οποία και περιέχουν πολυμεσικό υλικό:
α) Τα ντοσιέ με μπλε χρώμα περιέχουν υλικό με θέματα ειδικού ενδιαφέροντος: 1) Η θερμότητα στη ζωή μας, 2) Ιστορία φυσικής, 3) Μέτρηση θερμοκρασίας, 4) Μοντέλα μηχανών,5) Περιβάλλον, 6)Τεχνολογία, και επιπλέον ένα ντοσιέ για τον καθηγητή.
β) Τα ντοσιέ με μαύρο χρώμα περιέχουν τα ακόλουθα βίντεο πειραμάτων: 1) Το νερό δεν βράζει στους 100ο βαθμούς, 2) Ανάπηξη, 3) Διάδοση θερμότητας, 4) Είναι το χαρτί εύφλεκτο, 5) Ένας διακόπτης με διμεταλλικό έλασμα, 6) Κατασκευάζοντας ένα θερμοζεύγους, 7) Πως λειτουργεί ένα ηλεκτρικό θερμόμετρο, 8) Το θερμόμετρο του Γαλιλαίου και 9) Το νερό ως θερμομόνωση.

Παρατήρηση Κατά τη χρήση του πολυμεσικού υλικού θα πρέπει να προσέξετε τη χρήση των κουμπιών για την αφήγηση αλλά και τη χρήση των κουμπιών για τη λειτουργία του video των κινούμενων εικόνων. Προσοχή επίσης απαιτείται στα σημεία κειμένου που έχουν άλλο χρώμα. Στη περίπτωση αυτή αν ο δείκτης του ποντικιού σταματήσει πάνω σε κείμενο άλλου χρώματος (καυτά σημεία – hot spots) τότε θα σας δώσει και άλλες πληροφορίες.
Αυτόνομη λειτουργία του πολυμεσικού υλικού
Το πολυμεσικό υλικό παρουσιάζει ενδιαφέρον αλλά η χρήση του είναι προβληματική. Κάποιοι φάκελοι δεν συνδέονται με το πρόγραμμα πλοήγησης. Αυτό οφείλεται στο γεγονός ότι η έκδοση δεν είναι ακόμα πλήρης. Η πιο σίγουρη πρόσβαση είναι μέσα από το φάκελο του CD με τον τίτλο multimedia γιατί ορισμένα από τα αρχεία δεν ανταποκρίνονται στις οδηγίες χειρισμού.
Τα εικονίδια αυτής της μορφής είναι αρχεία .avi, δηλαδή video. Κάνοντας διπλό κλικ ενεργοποιείται το πρόγραμμα Windows media player στο οποίο υπάρχει και ένα πλαίσιο κουμπιών λειτουργίας video. Κάποια απ΄ αυτά έχουν και ήχο οπότε στη περίπτωση αυτή θα πρέπει να ενεργοποιηθούν και τα ηχεία.
Οι κίτρινοι φάκελοι έχουν υλικό που συνεργάζονται με τα άλλα εικονίδια τα οποία έχουν το σύμβολο των Windows αλλά από μόνα τους αυτά τα αρχεία δεν ενεργοποιούνται. Ενεργοποιούνται μόνο με την αντίστοιχη ιστοσελίδα. Ανοίγοντας ένα φάκελο το περιεχόμενο έχει τη μορφή της εικόνας. Η αρχή της εφαρμογής είναι το αρχείο με το όνομα index1.html αυτή είναι η πρώτη σελίδα ενώ αν κάνετε κλικ στο εικονίδιο index4.html οδηγείστε στη 4η σελίδα. Τα αρχεία gif και jpg (jpeg στα 98 και XP) είναι αρχεία εικόνας ενώ τα αρχεία με επέκταση wav (Windows) και mlv είναι αρχεία ήχου. Τα αρχεία αυτά μπορείτε να τα ενσωματώστε και σε δικές σας εφαρμογές (εκτός των αρχείων mlv) του Office (π.χ. PowerPoint).
Λειτουργία του πολυμεσικού υλικού μέσου του προγράμματος
1) Θα πρέπει αρχικά να είναι ανοικτό οπωσδήποτε ένα πείραμα. Ανοίγετε επομένως ένα πείραμα και κατόπιν μεταβαίνουμε στη βιβλιοθήκη.
2) Από τα ράφια της βιβλιοθήκης κάνετε κλικ σε ένα μαύρο ή κίτρινο ντοσιέ, σύμφωνα με το περιεχόμενο που επιθυμείτε, και με πατημένο το αριστερό πλήκτρο σέρνετε το φάκελο στο video.
3) Αναδύεται τότε το χειριστήριο του video καθώς και η οθόνη προβολής. Για να μετακινηθείτε από το τη προβολή video στη βιβλιοθήκη κάνετε κλικ στο κόκκινο κουμπί που υπάρχει στο χειριστήριο του video.
4) Μπορείτε να τοποθετήστε τις κασέτες πάλι στη βιβλιοθήκη αν θέλετε κάνοντας πάλι κλικ στη κασέτα και μόλις αυτή περιβληθεί με ένα ορθογώνιο πλαίσιο με σύρσιμο την μεταφέρετε στη βιβλιοθήκη. Μόλις σε κάποια θέση εκεί εμφανισθεί πάλι το ορθογώνιο πλαίσιο τότε αφήνετε το πλήκτρο και τοποθετείται η κασέτα.
5) Αν θέλετε κάποιο από τους μπλε φακέλους τότε σύρεται ένα φάκελο στο γραφείο και αφού τον τοποθετήσετε κάνετε διπλό κλικ επάνω του. Ανοίγει ο φάκελος και κάνετε πάλι διπλό κλικ στο θέμα που εμφανίζεται στα περιεχόμενα. Ανοίγει η πρώτη σελίδα και κάνοντας κλικ πάνω σ΄ αυτή τότε φορτώνεται το περιεχόμενο. Προσέξτε να ρυθμίσετε την έναρξη του video ή της αφήγησης αν υπάρχουν τέτοια στοιχεία στη σελίδα σας. Θα διαπιστώσετε όμως ότι στη παρούσα έκδοση δεν φορτώνονται όλα τα περιεχόμενα κάθε φακέλου.

Κάνετε κλικ στο εικονίδιο της αριστερής εικόνας και κατόπιν στο αρχείο sep2000. exe για την έναρξη της εγκατάστασης.
Ανοίξτε το πρόγραμμα και γράψτε τον κωδικό της αρεσκείας σας, αρκεί να είναι με λατινικούς χαρακτήρες γιατί αλλιώς στην επόμενη χρήση ο κωδικός με ελληνικούς χαρακτήρες δεν πρόκειται να αναγνωρισθεί. Αν ξεχάσετε μελλοντικά τον κωδικό σας τότε τοποθετήσετε εκ νέου το CD, κάνετε κλικ στο εικονίδιο SEP-ClearP.. και γράψτε έναν άλλο κωδικό. Αν δεν γράψετε τον κωδικό τότε δεν μπορείτε να δουλέψετε σε περιβάλλον καθηγητή αλλά μόνο σε περιβάλλον μαθητή. Οι διαφορές που υπάρχουν είναι ότι σε περιβάλλον καθηγητή έχετε τη δυνατότητα να σχεδιάσετε νέες προσομοιώσεις, να χρησιμοποιήσετε το πολυμεσικό υλικό και να θέσετε περιορισμούς στη χρήση του λογισμικού στους μαθητές.
Αν υπάρχει στο CD σας το πολυμεσικό υλικό για να εγκατασταθεί θα πρέπει να αντιγράψτε το πολυμεσικό υλικό από το CD, να ανοίξετε το φάκελο Ναυσικά που θα το βρείτε στο φάκελο Program Files και κατόπιν το φάκελο του ΣΕΠ όπου και θα τοποθετήσετε το πολυμεσικό υλικό. Αυτό οφείλεται στο γεγονός ότι η έκδοση δεν είναι ακόμα πλήρης. Η πιο σίγουρη πρόσβαση είναι μέσα από το φάκελο του CD με τον τίτλο multimedia γιατί ορισμένα από τα αρχεία δεν ανταποκρίνονται στις οδηγίες χειρισμού.
Τα εικονίδια αυτής της μορφής είναι αρχεία .avi, δηλαδή video. Κάνοντας διπλό κλικ ενεργοποιείται το πρόγραμμα Windows media player στο οποίο υπάρχει και ένα πλαίσιο κουμπιών λειτουργίας video. Κάποια απ΄ αυτά έχουν και ήχο οπότε στη περίπτωση αυτή θα πρέπει να ενεργοποιηθούν και τα ηχεία.
Οι κίτρινοι φάκελοι έχουν υλικό που συνεργάζονται με τα άλλα εικονίδια τα οποία έχουν το σύμβολο των Windows αλλά από μόνα τους αυτά τα αρχεία δεν ενεργοποιούνται. Ενεργοποιούνται μόνο με την αντίστοιχη ιστοσελίδα. Ανοίγοντας ένα φάκελο το περιεχόμενο έχει τη μορφή της εικόνας. Η αρχή της εφαρμογής είναι το αρχείο με το όνομα index1.html αυτή είναι η πρώτη σελίδα ενώ αν κάνετε κλικ στο εικονίδιο index4.html οδηγείστε στη 4η σελίδα. Τα αρχεία gif και jpg (jpeg στα 98 και XP) είναι αρχεία εικόνας ενώ τα αρχεία με επέκταση wav (Windows) και mlv είναι αρχεία ήχου. Τα αρχεία αυτά μπορείτε να τα ενσωματώστε και σε δικές σας εφαρμογές (εκτός των αρχείων mlv) του Office (π.χ. PowerPoint).
1) Θα πρέπει αρχικά να είναι ανοικτό οπωσδήποτε ένα πείραμα. Ανοίγετε επομένως ένα πείραμα και κατόπιν μεταβαίνουμε στη βιβλιοθήκη.
2) Από τα ράφια της βιβλιοθήκης κάνετε κλικ σε ένα μαύρο ή κίτρινο ντοσιέ, σύμφωνα με το περιεχόμενο που επιθυμείτε, και με πατημένο το αριστερό πλήκτρο σέρνετε το φάκελο στο video.
3) Αναδύεται τότε το χειριστήριο του video καθώς και η οθόνη προβολής. Για να μετακινηθείτε από το τη προβολή video στη βιβλιοθήκη κάνετε κλικ στο κόκκινο κουμπί που υπάρχει στο χειριστήριο του video.
4) Μπορείτε να τοποθετήστε τις κασέτες πάλι στη βιβλιοθήκη αν θέλετε κάνοντας πάλι κλικ στη κασέτα και μόλις αυτή περιβληθεί με ένα ορθογώνιο πλαίσιο με σύρσιμο την μεταφέρετε στη βιβλιοθήκη. Μόλις σε κάποια θέση εκεί εμφανισθεί πάλι το ορθογώνιο πλαίσιο τότε αφήνετε το πλήκτρο και τοποθετείται η κασέτα.
5) Αν θέλετε κάποιο από τους μπλε φακέλους τότε σύρεται ένα φάκελο στο γραφείο και αφού τον τοποθετήσετε κάνετε διπλό κλικ επάνω του. Ανοίγει ο φάκελος και κάνετε πάλι διπλό κλικ στο θέμα που εμφανίζεται στα περιεχόμενα. Ανοίγει η πρώτη σελίδα και κάνοντας κλικ πάνω σ΄ αυτή τότε φορτώνεται το περιεχόμενο. Προσέξτε να ρυθμίσετε την έναρξη του video ή της αφήγησης αν υπάρχουν τέτοια στοιχεία στη σελίδα σας. Θα διαπιστώσετε όμως ότι στη παρούσα έκδοση δεν φορτώνονται όλα τα περιεχόμενα κάθε φακέλου.
